Highlights from 2015
One of the best ways to explain what MWC will be like is to let you know what took place in 2015. But how do you summarize four amazing days? There’s so much we could say – but we’ll try to be brief:
Mobile World Congress 2015 had a record-breaking 94,000+ attendees from 200 countries, and was covered by more than 3,800 members of the international press and media. Learn more about our attendees in our 2015 Post-Event Report or by viewing our awesome interactive infographic.
Nearly 2,200 companies participated in our 2015 exhibition, which spanned nine halls and outdoor spaces at Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc. At the GSMA Innovation City, attendees could see first-hand how mobile-connected products are transforming our personal and working lives. Several specialty pavilions throughout the exhibition highlighted important initiatives benefiting the industry, including Mobile Apps, Cloud, Green Technology, Mobile Money and Wearables. And more than 34 countries and territories from around the world showcased innovative companies and ideas from their citizens in dedicated Country Pavilions.

We collaborated with more than 30 industry partners to provide events, user conferences, trainings and forums for thousands of attendees. These partner programmes covered nearly every imaginable topic in the mobile ecosystem, from gaming and mobile health to ‘hyperconnectivity’ and mobile entertainment.
2015 marked the 20th anniversary of the Global Mobile Awards, which recognised 37 outstanding offerings covering a myriad of topics including: best use of mobile in health, education and marketing; best mobile services in emerging markets; the best apps of the year; and innovation in mobile technology. Acclaimed British actor and comedian John Cleese was our celebrity host.
Mobile entrepreneurs and start-ups had their own programme at Fira Montjuïc called 4 Years From Now (4YFN). This innovative programme brings together start-ups and interested business owners for learning and networking opportunities, to help them take their businesses to the next level.
MWC isn’t just about meetings and conference sessions – we have a lot of fun! Attendees participated in the Garmin Healthband Challenge, to see who took the most steps; the event was brought to life by artists on a graffiti wall; and pin trading was a favourite Thursday pastime as attendees sought elusive Android pins offered by Google and its partners.
