Smart City Expo World Congress 2015
November 17, 2015 @ 9:00 am - November 19, 2015 @ 7:00 pm
By 2050, an additional 2.8 billion people will be living in urban areas compared to nowadays. What’s more, at our current rate of emissions, by 2032 we will have exhausted our carbon budget and pushed global temperatures 2° Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Will we meet these challenges head-on? What kind of cities will we have created by then?
Barcelona’s Smart City Expo World Congress 2015 will continue to investigate the most innovative developments transforming our cities. The event is the best meeting point for companies, public administrations, entrepreneurs and research centers to show, learn, share, network and gather inspiration to support the development of cities of the future. Participants will have the opportunity to share knowledge, innovative projects and strategies with experts and leaders from the smart city community to tackle the challenges faced by our cities.
From theory to practice – Major companies and investment companies, small businesses and entrepreneurs, opinion leaders, cities… All sharing the same physical space where ideas and projects for smart cities become a reality.
The Smart City Expo World Congress is the only international event on the smart cities’ calendar bringing together over 400 cities around the world, more than 200 companies, 400 speakers and the leading institutions and experts in urban transformation. Here are some of the main strengths:
The event boasts the top experts on the cities of the future
The Smart City Expo World Congress program features some of the most innovative speakers on urban technology. It is structured along six main themes (Smart Society, Technology, Governance, Energy, Mobility and Sustainable City), and amongst the 400 speakers we have Parag Khanna, regarded the world’s leading geopolitical analyst and a former adviser to US President, Barack Obama; architects Kengo Kuma and Deyan Sudjic, who will discuss the creative process within urban environments; futurologist and sustainability expert Alex Steffen; Janette Sadik, an expert on urban mobility and New York’s former Transportation Commissioner; and Vaclav Smil, a scientist specializing in energy and demographic analysis.
Best place to do business
The event provides the strategies and tools necessary to drive knowledge sharing forward, develop associations and create business opportunities in this new market for urban solutions and technologies. And this fourth edition is more strategic than ever for the smart industry. More than 200 companies and 400 cities have confirmed they will take part and exhibition space is up by 25%. As well, SCEWC is organizing Smart Activities and Side Events to create synergies and networking between companies, entrepreneurs, cities, research centers and investors.
It’s the best showcase to see the latest trends
Technology and innovation is in the DNA of smart cities. This event brings together innovative solutions that are already being used, and projects and prototypes which represent a step forward in building sustainable, collaborative and efficient cities. Inside SCEWC there are several spaces designed for exhibitors to showcase their products. The central part of the exhibition area is Smart City Plaza, which shows real solutions and initiatives selected as part of SCEWC 2014’s ‘Call for Solutions’ process.
